Local removalists Man and His Van taking on Sydney

Man and His Van Removalists are a familiar sight in Manly and all over Sydney. Set up as a one truck removalist in Fairlight twenty years ago, Man and His Van have developed into a leading Sydney furniture removalist and storage company.

Originally carriers for the Sydney Antique industry, Man and His Van moved the Antique and Art dealers and the major Sydney Auction houses. The company moved into domestic and office removals about 15 years ago; that early removalist expertise was put to good use moving the whole spectrum from a one bedroom unit in Manly to a Clifton Gardens mansion, from a small office in Mosman to a large French Forest Office.

The company has that distinctive Man and His Van, clean cut, working class man image on the side of their trucks.

Said Michael Cummins MD of Man and His Van

“people see our trucks all over Sydney and they certainly remember the name and logo”

Having such a distinctive branding does, however, create a few problems : Man and His van have been involved in numerous intellectually property disputes with other parties setting up under similar sounding names. One New Zealand company for example set up under the identical Man and His Van name and exactly the same logo.

“The whole point of a trade mark is to protect your branding and prevent confusion in the market place for the consumer. We always defend our Man and His Van trade mark, even if the lawyers fees can get rather prohibitive”

AFRA Removalists

Man and His Van belong to The Australian Furiture Removalists Assosiation AFRA. AFRA is the governing body for Australian Furniture Removalists. To quote from Bob Comport office manager at Man and His Van “people should only use AFRA removalists when moving house, we hear some real horror stories about removalists which are not part of AFRA

Storage Facilites on the Northern Beaches

Storage is a major part of the Man and His Van operation. The storage has grown throughout the years. Things have certainly changed since Man and His van started the furniture storage business in the spare room of a rented Manly house. The company now owns and operates four storage facilities in the Northern Beaches area.

Said Suzie Cummins co-founder of Man and His Van
” In the old days storage customers would come to our rented house, it was a blessing in disguise when neighbours complained and Manly Council “suggested” we find alternative commercial premises”

Man and His Van now have a thriving storage business in addition to some nice commercial real estate in Brookvale and Dee Why.

Moving Boxes

From selling boxes in their garage, Man and his Van now sell boxes under “The Box Man” Moving Boxes The Box Man sells all the packaging necessary for moving home. The large turnover of boxes means they are able to offer boxes at a competitive price. In addition to moving boxes they sell butchers paper, bubblewrap, plastic covers and tape.

Be very careful when booking furniture removalists Anyone can buy a truck and call themselves a professional furniture removalist. Always check the following points before using a removalist company

Never book on-line without a call to the removalist. Make sure the removalist has a physical address. The removalist must be an AFRA removalist. Ensure the removalist has a good track record. Inspect the furniture storage facilities. Man and His Van tick all the above boxes.
